Back when I got started running ads in 2005 all traffic was desktop traffic, so you simply day-parted for work based on where someone is in relation to their work computer or their laptop.
Fast forward 14 years and a ton of e-commerce is being done through mobile devices (here in Asia, MOST of it is). With that said, if you’re a savvy marketer, targeting Americans, and you understand the daily habits of your target users then you’ll be in a better position to understand where to initiate their customer journey.
For example, the type of media used to grab their attention in the evening wouldn’t necessarily be the same media used to appeal to them at work.
